Project Consultancy - design and implementation of sustainable systems

We are often contracted to conduct a project consultancy which involves assessing the current practices of community farming techniques, and using participatory processes to determine areas that can be improved on in terms of sustainable practices.

Culturally appropriate suggestions are made to enhance rather than change the farming practices used. Once the consultant has met with community leaders to discuss the best ways of implementing such changes, a hands on training component may be part of the implementation phase.

An example of the nature of work involved in this type of consultancy can be seen in the following report, which was commissioned by World Vision Australia, who contracted SCPI to complete the consultancy in the Kaski region of Nepal in September 2001.

Details of a project which involved assessment of the potential of Permaculture applications to a particular region with only a slight emphasis on physical implementation can be found inAdjibar Ethiopia Permaculture Evaluation Report, which was commissioned by World Vision Australia in December 2000.
